Spotlight on: Faz
Faz is a passionate young street dancer who found somewhereto_ through his youth worker, Jaffer, our regional coordinator in the North West. Since then, Faz has performed at many events with somewhereto_ showcasing his skills to many audiences and has volunteered numerous times, even winning our coveted ‘Volunteer of the Month’ award!
somewhereto_ volunteer Lauren, on SHORTcuts
Lauren McCorkindale joined somewhereto_ as a volunteer in May 2012. As a young creative in Dundee she wanted to help create opportunities for other young people in her city, and gain valuable work experience and make new contacts. Lauren worked with her regional co-ordinator and fellow somewhereto_ volunteers to design and deliver SHORTcuts, a film-making project for young people in the city. Six months later, Lauren has hosted a sell-out free screening of six short films, met some amazing individuals, and landed her own dream job – working at Dundee’s prestigious arts centre, the DCA. Here, Lauren describes her experience of helping run ShortCUTS in Dundee.
