Mikel, somewhereto_ young person
so what exactly went on at the olympic park?
Across four days we had over 100 young performers come down to London from all over the UK. Both in groups and solo we had singers, rappers, BMX champions, magicians and more! They performed in spots all over the Olympic Park and on the Bandstand in front of crowds from all over the world during the prestigious events!
the talent we had come down was incredible!
Just to name a few, BMX champion and somewhereto_ regular Keelan Phillips came down with his BMX bike and wowed the crowd with his tricks, gathering a huge audience all amazed and bemused by what he could do!
We also had Twelve Strings, acoustic duo from Wales who have previously performed at the Wales Millenium Centre! They performed on the Bandstand both their own songs and a few classic covers which got the crowds rolling in and singing along.
Mikel, rapper from London, on a chilly day got the audience dancing and singing to the beat of his own tunes!
The Mouthy Poets from the East Midlands impressed with their unusual lyrics and their huge personalities. They really got the crowds even more hyped up for the Games, if that was possible!
Dance group Ready Ready Sauce performed well into the evening, energetically showing off their original choreography and revving up exhausted crowds, after a busy day watching the games in the tropical heat that London was blessed with for a few short weeks.
Here mentioned are just some of the incredible talents among many that came down to London to share in the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games cheer! It was a monumental four days, during a monumentual couple of months!
the verdict?
"Performing on a stage that looked like a new age space-ship-clam in front of a good 300 people, running around the park and performing to people with a busker amp, sitting by the river in front of the stadium jamming with passers by and accoustic guitar. Meeting the wonderful Olympic Park games makers, public and somewhereto_ team. Also spending time with the young people in our collective. It was one of the highlights of my year and somewhereto_ made it as comfortable and easy and fun as possible!" Mouthy Poets, East Midlands
"It's an honour, you watch such events on TV but I'd never imagined performing at such a prestigious event, doing something that's not been done there before. I'm so grateful to somewhereto_!" Nick, 17, Newcastle
""It was a fantastic opportunity for my company and myself to perform to such a large audience, in an outdoor sace out of the norms of what we're used to. It was very exciting to see how we adapted to the Olympic Park surroundings as well." Georgia of Coruscate Theatre, 25, East Midlands
