turning spaces into stories_
somewhereto_ is a service that helps young people access space.
Since June 2010, somewhereto_ has unlocked over 380,000 sq ft of space (both physical and digital) across the UK which was previously empty or underused (the rent value of which if leveraged would exceed £2m). We have also negotiated over 4,000 direct matches between spaces and young people in need of space, engaged with thousands of young people and reached millions through high-profile activity around space.
somewhereto_ is funded by a £7m injection from the Big Lottery Fund, granted in December 2012 to support its UK-wide expansion over the following four years, in partnership with YouTube and delivered by youth engagement agency Livity.
somewhereto_ has also been awarded £50,000 as part of the Innovation in Giving Fund, a Cabinet Office initiative launched in September 2011 by Nick Hurd, Minister for Civil Society, as part of a £34million package to increase levels of social action. The Fund is managed by Nesta, the UK’s innovation foundation.
